Yoga Classes - Every Thursday

Hannah from Harmony Yoga is teaching two Yoga classes every Thursday evening at the Village Hall.  There is a gentle session (ideal for beginners) starting at 6.30pm and a more advanced class at 7.45pm.  If you would like to come along, please contact Hannah directly (see the poster below).  The first session is free, so you can try it out without obligation.

Regular Events

Thirst Friday is back again.
The First Friday of the month...

As there is no pub in the village, people are invited to bring their own drinks and nibbles to share in the Village Hall on the First Friday of each month. These meetings are friendly and  welcoming, and you can be assured of interesting conversations, especially as the evening progresses. One newcomer to the village remarked ' When I first moved to the village, Thirst Friday was a wonderful way to meet new people'. Children and dogs are welcome, too.

Meet in the Village Hall from 7pm.

Coffee Mornings are back!

On the second Tuesday of each month, we host a Coffee Morning for villagers and friends. In the winter months, these are held in the Village Hall, but during the summer months, volunteers from the village take it in turns to host the coffee morning in their gardens. These events are always well attended and provide much needed social contact, especially for our older residents who enjoy a good chat. Wi-Fi is available in the Hall.  There are always a large number of home made cakes and biscuits  on offer, so no need for a large lunch afterwards!

10-30 am until 12-30 pm every second Tuesday.

Social Evenings

The Village Hall has hosted many food festivals over the years.  It is always a pleasure to get together with neighbours and friends, to sit down and enjoy a meal together.  For those villagers living alone, these events can be an especially  welcome opportunity to meet and to enjoy a catch-up and a chat.

The Summer Fete

The Summer Fete is held in the middle of the village, making use of the iconic fountain as a centrepiece and nearby gardens. A dog show is a very well attended attraction, with rosettes and various doggy products for the prize-winners. The Vicarage gardens provide a very pleasant space in which to have lunch, afternoon tea and listen to the live music, whilst in the past, the residents of nearby St. Mary Magdalene have kindly hosted the beer tent and barbeque. A variety of stall holders offer plants for sale, books, cakes and bric-a brac, and we have recently been joined by the ever popular 'Boutique in a Bus'.

Harvest Supper

Every year, we join with the church community to have a Harvest meal together.  It can be either supper or lunch depending on which suits us all.  It is a lovely occasion.  Everyone brings a gift for the Wimborne Food Bank and the meal - usually cottage pie and apple crumble - is provided by us all.  One year, we had so many different types and flavours of cottage pie that it was like the Great British Bake Off!

Crafty Christmas

For a number of years, the Village Hall has hosted 'Crafty Christmas', an event which brings visitors from far and wide.  During the last weekend in November, the hall has been filled with stalls selling all sorts of goodies, from home-made preserves, cakes and biscuits to hand-made gifts and Christmas Cards.  Professional artisans have frequently joined villagers and friends in renting stalls from which to sell their wares.  Soup lunches, teas, coffees and minced pies are served, making the whole event a wonderful way in which to get into the Christmas spirit and to make a start on the Christmas shopping.
